Bossa Nova: The Best Thing Since Unsliced Bread!
One day last month, I had a business meeting on East 6th Street. As usual, I like to get there early to get ready for the appointment. It is always a plus when there is a coffee shop near by.
I have a love hate relationship with most coffee shops. I love the free wi-fi and great lattes. My issue is the noise level. For some unknown reason, coffee shops double as live music venues. Some have events everyday such as poetry, comedy and even dance class. I guess it helps the bottom line to have all those hungry music fans in on a slow night. I knew Bossa Nova was different from the moment I walked in. The first difference was the music. Brazilian Jazz! A singer name Bebel Gilberto was coming softly out the of the speakers. The next difference was the smell! It is a real bakery. The bread is not delivered!! Every piece of bread, crust and dessert is baked on site by skilled Brazilian bakers. Whoever made up the term "best thing since sliced bread" had not been to Bossa Nova.....My new saying is "the best thing since unsliced bread" after tasting the fresh out of the oven loaf of sweet bread from my new Austin hangout. See you there!!
