Grown Folks Nation: Know Family,Know Yourself
In August 2009, I traveled to Fayette, Alabama with my family. This is my father's side of the family. I never really enjoyed going to this family reunion when I was younger. I found out on this trip that it is not about the youth but about the rich stories of our elders. As the years pass by, family members pass away. I decided to document family members as a way to share with future generations. From this small clip, I have been inspired to do a documentary on my family to make sure that we preserve the stories and learn more about who we are. We learn this by knowing our family.
